Dr. Jim Thorpe is an Iowa licensed psychologist and health services provider with diverse clinical and administrative experience within the Behavioral Healthcare industry. He obtained his Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in addictions and Master degree in Counseling Psychology at Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. In addition he received a Masters degree in Sport Psychology from Florida State University. His theoretical orientation is within the cognitive-behavioral paradigm. Dr. Thorpe’s clinical focus is upon the mood and anxiety spectrum disorders with adult populations and he works with individuals to establish healthy and effective lifestyles.
In addition to his clinical work he is licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health to conduct substance abuse evaluations and OWI evaluations and he teaches the court ordered Children in the Middle parenting program. Dr. Thorpe is a member of the American Psychological Association, Iowa Psychological Association and former board president of the Iowa Psychological Foundation. Dr. Thorpe works out of our Ankeny and Newton offices.
